Girls varsity basketball (0-1) lost their season opener against the Sherwood Warriors (1-0) 47-19 Dec. 6 at home succumbing to their opponents’ strong play at both ends of the court.

The Rams struggled with the Warriors’ aggressive offense throughout the first half being held to under 10 points, closing the half with a score of 31-9.

“Overall, I think in the first quarter we were pretty hype,” junior forward Denise Mack said. “During the middle, we started slowing down a little bit and dropping our heads a little bit, but at the end, we definitely pushed through and beat them in the second half overall.”

Opening the second half sophomore guard Jadiah Piatt put forth a strong effort setting up plays and making the offense run more efficiently. While the Rams outscored the Warriors in the second half, the effort did not convert into enough points on the board.

The Rams next game is Friday, Dec. 8 against the at Gaithersburg Trojans at Gaithersburg HS.
