Varsity girls volleyball (2-3) crushed the Northwood Gladiators three sets to zero Sept. 26 at home. The score of the sets were 25a10 in the first, 25a21 in the second and 25a12 in the third.

“To win, we had very strong offense. We had very minimal hitting errors, and Northwood wasn’t able to defend against our plays,” senior varsity captain Kaytlin Wack said. “We also played smart, putting the ball in good areas where they couldn’t return it.”

Performances by outside hitter Wack, senior setter Jillian Krawczel, senior middle hitter Tiama Essama-Ayi and sophomore setter Elenna Mach aided in the victory over the Gladiators.

The team’s main setters, Krawczel and Mach, achieved more than 15 attempts and five kills each when setting the ball. Yet, Wack led the team with eight kills out of 17 attempts.

Essama-Ayi used her 5 foot 10 inches to successfully block a spike and sealed their dominant victory Gladiators.

Wack and Krawczel tied for the most service aces with six.

“We have been working very hard in practice improving our areas of weakness like touching up our serve and sharpening out [our] serve receive. In the game, we took the lead with our strong serving,” volleyball coach Stacey Krebs said.

The Lady Rams will take on Poolesville Falcons at Poolesville Tuesday, Oct. 10.
