Varsity Lacrosse Dominates Wolverines by 19 Points

Varsity boys lacrosse (4-4) smothered the Watkins Mill Wolverines (1-7) at home April 15 in a commanding offensive effort that led to their 22-3 win.

After achieving an 8-1 lead by the end of the first quarter, the Rams continued to test the Wolverines defense with non-stop offense and many shots on the goal.

“We played the full game and didn’t play down to our opponents, even when we knew they weren’t as strong of a team as us,” senior midfielder Jonathan Brake said.

Many players who don’t often see time on the field, not only played but also had the opportunity to score. Goalie Jack Welch even got to play offense for about a minute, until he abruptly got kicked off of the field after a small verbal altercation between the teams.

Although the Rams beat the Wolverines by a healthy margin, the team still notes they have a lot of work ahead of them in order to be strong playoff contenders.

“In the future, we need to execute better in terms of shooting and getting high percentage shots,” Brake said, “because we forced some shots that weren’t needed.”

The Rams will face Northwest Jaguars for their senior night at home April 29 at 5:30 p.m.
