Boys varsity basketball (8-6) fell to the Richard Montgomery Rockets (13-1) 56-50 Jan. 25 away in a rivalry game. Despite the six point loss, the Rams were able to keep a close game with a then-undefeated team.

It didn’t take long for either team to get on the board; every time the Rockets scored, the Rams responded with a basket of their own. The Rams finished the first quarter trailing 12-8, all quarters except for the fourth ended with a score difference within five points. There were numerous amounts of lead changes throughout the game, making this game closer than many fans expected.

“It was a good game and we played a great team, but we came up short because of our shooting,” senior center Jeffrey Gomez said. “We had good defense on their shooters and we just need to keep contesting their shots.”

Both teams will not have to wait long to face each other again as they play each other Feb. 11 at home at 7:15 p.m.

“Our fans should expect a hard fought game that will come down down to the last quarter. But at the end of the night you can expect Rockville to come out on top.” senior forward Andrew Pace said.

The Rams’ next game is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 4 versus the Poolesville Falcons away at 7:15 p.m.
