Students Join National Walkout, Gather in Gym

Students walked out of their classrooms during third period, to honor the 17 shooting victims from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. They took part in 17 minutes of silence in the main gym.

“I felt the plans needed to come from the students and that I wanted to be there to support them and if at all possible to provide a way for the students to stay in school and be able to show their support for bring in change around gun violence in schools,” principal Billie-Jean Bensen said.
