Update: MCPS Snow Day Waiver

MCPS received a one-day waiver April 19, after making calendar adjustments by changing the June 20 professional day, which is now scheduled for June 21. The school year will now end with an early release day on June 20, instead of the original date of Friday, June 17.

Their intial waiver, asking to excuse the two out of the six days lost to inclement weather, was originally rejected.

In a letter issued March 30, Interim Deputy State Superintendent Karen Salmon said the original waiver, submitted March 16, was rejected because MCPS did not show any effort to make any modifications to the school calendar to make up the lost instructional time.
