What are the best shows to rewatch over and over again? Although it is a trivial question, peoples’ responses differ greatly.
Comfort shows are shows people rewatch numerous times, without ever getting bored. As fall approaches and more people scavenge for new shows to watch, let’s provide a list of some of the best comfort shows.
“Some shows that I can watch over and over again are comedy classics such as The Office and Parks and Recreation,” senior Camila Rivas said. “I can count on them to bring out a laugh, even after a hard day. I enjoy watching shows that not only get my attention, but also match my personality and humor.”
Meanwhile, others find solace and tranquility in reality television shows. Senior Asnakech Uhl says her comfort show is Love Island, and says it stresses her more than comforts her, but that is the fun of it all!
“I can rewatch my comfort shows and I am still just as surprised as I was the first time watching them,” Uhl said.
Despite the most obvious appeal of comfort shows being the endless hours wrapped in a blanket with your favorite snack, they also have some benefits for productivity.
“It is important to have a comfort show because it helps me complete my tasks. If I’m cleaning my room I need to have a show on and if I am doing homework, I like to have noise in the background,” Uhl said.
Comfort shows can vary depending on the type of person you are. If you like drama and reality television, Love Island, The Bachelorette/Bachelor, Love is Blind, and even Survivor may be the fit for you. However, if you are more into having a laugh and relaxing, shows like The Office, Gilmore Girls, Friends, or Modern Family are humorous classics that anyone can turn to.
“I have watched [The Office] three times,” Rivas said. “This is because I find myself wanting to re-experience the laughter shed within each episode.”
So, as we say goodbye to warm weather and outdoor endeavors, it is time to turn back to our comfort shows. Whether you just want to decompress in your bed for hours or find some motivation to make chores less daunting, comfort shows provide it all.
“A comfort show can help you navigate through any given situation in your life, whether it’s by making you smile, cry, or relating to your situation and making you feel less alone,” Rivas said.
