Despite its challenges, Senior Reuben Carter believes there’s an overall positive learning experience at Rockville High School.
“[School] has a positive impact because it gets my mood up a lot, and I’m able to learn new stuff every day and constantly be occupied,” Carter said.
Learning is something that brings Carter to school every day, but what helps him to stay motivated is seeing his friends and using the tools that the school provides to learn more efficiently.
“I get to learn new stuff every day and get to see my friends very often,” Carter said.
One of Carter’s favorite high school memories so far is, unlike most, is the first day of his freshman year. Carter expressed excitement and described the surrealness of beginning his positive experience at Rockville.
“My favorite high school memory is probably my first day of high school, because it was such a surreal experience and I feel like I was entering a new part of my life,” Carter said. “It’s a lot calmer, I thought there would be something insane happening every day, but it’s really tame for the most part.”
Rockville has been a positive experience for Carter, but there can be some negatives. He takes these negatives with a grain of salt because overall they’re a contribution to something positive.
“I would say the negative parts are probably having to wake up early, but you’re waking up early to do something constructive, so I think it’s pretty good,” Carter said.
