Sophomore Loki Smyth might seem like any other RHS student when on land, but in the water, he’s a force to be reckoned with.
Smyth is one of the many students on the RHS swim teams, specializing in freestyle and butterfly events. Despite his talent, Smyth prefers to keep a low profile, enjoying the peaceful focus that swimming gives him rather than the attention.
“People always ask if I’m aiming for college scholarships or state titles, which I do, but I also swim because I love it,” Smyth explained. “It’s where I feel the most like myself.”
Smyth believes that everyone has something that makes them unique, whether it’s a talent, a passion, or where they come from.
“For me, it’s swimming,” Smyth said. “For others, it could be anything from music to their culture. What matters is embracing who we are and respecting what makes others special.”
