This year, Rockville High School has a new head football coach and a winning record.
New head coach Alimamy Kallay led the football team to 28-0 win against Springbrook High School on Sept. 27, Kally’s biggest win of the season to date.
Senior Maddox Cuque has played football for all four years of high school. He has had different coaches throughout his high school career and has seen many different coaching styles. Something that he loves specifically about his new head coach is how he disciplines the team.
“This year is more fast-paced, more strict, and more disciplined,” Cuque said.
Cuque also enjoys the new coach’s routines and practice schedule.
“I like that Mondays are life and film day. It helps us keep them gains up and analyzing the team we are about to face,” Cuque said.
Senior Miguel Hernandez has also played football all four years of high school. During his first three years, he played football at Richard Montgomery High School. He’s been enjoying playing at Rockville and is very pleased with how the head coach is trying to make him a better player.
“At Rockville, I feel like I’m being pushed more. I feel like they’re trying to make me a better player and a better person on and off the field and at RM it felt like I was being pushed but not pushed to my limit,” Hernandez said.
Hernandez feels that in the time spent with Kally, they have developed a strong connection. Hernandez is grateful for everything that he has done.
“There’s a lot of things that I love about him. I just appreciate him a lot and ever since I met him we connected, and I know he loves the game as much as I do and I know he loves it more than me,” Hernandez said. “I just appreciate him. He’s been working with me since the summer and we’re only gonna get better from here.”
Hernandez feels that with Kally he is being aided and exposed to more top college programs to further his education and football career. He’s confident that with the help of Kally and Rockville, he will be able to get to the next level.
“This year I feel like I have opportunities to go see more colleges like D1 schools, big schools are talking to me and watching my film and stuff,” Hernandez said. “I feel like the coach and staff at Rockville is gonna help me get to the next level.”
