From the cheerleaders to the players, Ram Rumble has become an important memory in the high school careers of many participants. The Ram Rumble game has since been moved to earlier in the day, likely to hinder attendance. It is now September 24th from 2:45 – 4:30.This means Ram Rumble may never be the same.
“It’s fall season and we have a lot of student-athletes, so people have practices right after school,” 2-year participant, junior, Maya Allen-Priest said.
Junior Patrick Hintz, a coach last year for the sophomore team, said,” That’s very inconvenient for me and others.” The time change makes it harder for him to make it to the game, meaning he isn’t as likely to participate this year.
“I think the whole part of Ram Rumble is to have it at night under the lights, like our football games,” Allen-Priest said.
The football game-like atmosphere is what makes Ram Rumble so special for all the participants involved. With the cheerleaders and the stadium lights on, Ram Rumble created the environment of a football game.
“Last year, the experience was very fun because it was at night and made it feel like a real game,” junior Allie Smith said.
The overall experience and environment was what had a lasting impact on most of the players. This fun school tradition is such a great way to collaborate with other students and work together to make a great team.
“The time change doesn’t make it as fun… When it’s right after school, it’s still light out, it’s not the same environment,” Smith said. “I don’t think as many people will want to do it.”
