Not only does Photography teacher Caryn Chavarria enjoy her job due to her love for art and photography, but she also gets a rewarding experience from her students. In 2020, she got more involved in photography than any other art form.
“So I think around then is when I started to take it more seriously. And then once I actually got to working here at Rockville I started using dslrs so I got my own and that’s when I started to really practice and try doing more with it than I used to,” Chavarria said.
Rockville gave her an opportunity not only to work with art and photography but to also teach it. Chavarria couldn’t turn it down.
“If I’m just showing students, I’m making art with them so it gives me an excuse to make art when sometimes I feel that any other job would not allow me to have a creative outlet during the day,” Chavarria said.
This job combines her love of photography and allows her to build connections and learn about her students.
“The most rewarding part of the job is the relationships I make. I feel like the students here at Rockville are super kind and super accepting of everything, and they accept me for who I am, and I really do feel that,” Chavarria said
