Security guard Francisco Guevara’s favorite part of his job is getting to know RHS students.
“I think it’s getting to know the students on a daily basis. Keeping up with them as far as like, making sure their classes are going well, make sure that they’re doing well, not just academically but mentally” Guevara said.
Guevara’s primary reason for becoming a security guard was the positive influence of one of the security guards at his middle school. Now, Guevara hopes to spread the same positivity he experienced.
“I just saw the relationships that he built while he was a security guard there when I was in middle school, and it [was] just kind of somebody I looked up to growing up,” Guevara said.
Guevara is also a father; his proudest moment is building that bond with his kids.
“In general. My proudest moment is becoming a dad. Just building that relationship with your kids, becoming someone your kids want to hang around with,” Guevara said.
Guevara now strives to spread the same kind of positivity his old security guard brought to him to the community of Rockville High School in small ways.
“So, I think if I could just do my part and bring a smile or just some positive advice for a student then [I’ve succeeded]. My goal is every day is to just make a positive impact every day,” Guevara said.
