Senior Lillian Yared is a big fan of high school, specifically its social aspects.
“You can meet so many people in high school, and just seeing them every day is like such a fun experience,” Yared said.
While Yared is going through the standard senior year stress concerning college applications, she has the IB program and all of its work on her plate as well. She consistently has a lot of work, but she still manages to enjoy school.
“I feel like a lot of things can get overwhelming in high school, and you might want to, like, stay home more because you’re trying to get everything done,” Yared said. “But honestly, just go out and worry about things that you have to do later, and just live your life to the fullest because you’re only in high school once for four years. That’s it.”
Senior year can be a whirlwind of emotions, and Yared knows that. But, even with the stress of college applications and course load, she has a lot of events she is looking forward to this school year.
“I’m looking forward to prom. I’ve never been to prom before, obviously, but it’s so exciting. It’s like a once in a lifetime experience, and so I’m just so excited for it,” Yared said.
As she continues with her final year at Rockville, Yared encourages younger students to embrace all that there is to high school.
“One piece of advice that I have specifically in high school, I guess, is to have fun,” Yared said.
