After 12 years in the classroom, freshman biology and forensics teacher Jonathan Chung has plenty of insightful wisdom to share with his students.
Prior to RHS, Chung worked briefly with emotionally disabled children and describes his experience as a lesson, admitting he was not well-suited for teaching there.
“I had to admit it was not my cup of tea. Moving on to another speciality was tough to learn. Failure is bitter,” Chung said.
Chung hopes to become a better teacher as years pass, and, looking further, would even love to become a stay-at-home dad for his 2 year old son.
“I wish I spent a little more time with my family and less time here at school, because I see my son growing up so fast.” Chung said. “[My son] is never going to be two years old again.”
When reflecting on his time so far at Rockville, Chung can sum it up with one adjective.
“One word I would use to describe my time at Rockville would be fruitful. Last year, I saw very good test scores and lots of growth individually with my students,” Chung said.
With those students, Chung wishes to share one piece of advice that he himself has learned.
“The best advice I’ve ever received is don’t take it personally. It took me a long time to actually do it though,” Chung said.
