A Guide to Holiday Beverage Choices at Starbucks
The winter holidays arrived, and so did Starbucks’ 2021 holiday drink menu. We tasted three of the most popular holiday drinks from Starbucks, rating them from one to five, with five being the highest, and one the lowest. All of the featured drinks can be purchased at the Starbucks in the Rock Creek shopping center, located less than five minutes away from RHS.
The first drink we tried was the famous peppermint mocha, an espresso roast blended with mocha sauce and peppermint-flavoring. This drink was priced at $5.00 for a grande, their medium size. The price was on the higher scale, but wasn’t unreasonable.
As for the taste of the drink, the peppermint mocha was made for peppermint lovers, who typically don’t like the taste of coffee. The drink had a generous amount of whip cream on top, which we enjoyed, in addition to the sprinkle of peppermint.
The peppermint flavor was enjoyable with every sip, and the drink made me feel like it was a snowy February day. In general this drink was delicious, although it did burn my tongue. The overall drink gets a 5/5 rating because it sets the mood for the holiday season and brings joy in every sip.
The second drink we tried was the new Iced Sugar Cookie Almond Milk Latte, made with blond espresso and almond milk. The latte is topped with red and green sprinkles, and is the first non-dairy iced coffee to join the Starbucks holiday menu.
While the appearance was great, the drink got very boring halfway through the cup. The sweetness was too strong and lacked coffee taste.
We would recommend getting a grande if you do order this beverage, as the taste gets boring and stale half way through. The price for this latte was $6.00 so that drops my rating even more. This latte gets a 2/5 rating, as I could not finish the drink.
The last drink we tried was the Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino. This drink is made from roasted coffee and mocha sauce, with a blend of milk and ice. On top whipped cream and chocolate cookie crumbles were added. The drink looked delicious, as we really enjoyed the nice chocolate mixture of chocolate chips and whipped cream. The taste was absolutely amazing as well, it was sweet but not overpowering.
The drink was reasonably priced at $5.00, and was well worth it. Overall, this was one of the best drinks we have ever tried from starbucks, therefore the Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino receives a 5/5 rating.
Next time you’re in the holiday mood and crave something sweet, consider trying the Peppermint Mocha or Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino from Starbucks, they were exceptional.
